Purchases & pre orders for speciality jobs
The following Policy’s outlines the terms and conditions governing the sale of timber products from our mill. It is designed to ensure clarity and mutual understanding between the timber mill and our clients (purchaser).
Purchase Policy:
Client Responsibilities
1. **Inspection of Wood Quality**:
Clients are responsible for inspecting the quality of the timber prior to any kind of payment. We encourage all clients to conduct a thorough examination of the wood products to ensure they meet their specifications and standards.
In the instance wood can not be inspected, the client has the option for BSD to liaise with them via phone conference providing photos to the purchaser with any answers they may have. If the purchaser is not satisfied please note it is the purchasers responsibility to arrange an inspector to view the timber prior to payment being made (including but not limited to down payments or pre payments).
2. **Acceptance of Product**:
When the purchaser makes a payment in full or partially, this is acknowledgement they have reviewed and accepted the quality of the timber. Any concerns regarding the purchase should be raised before money is exchanged.
Non-Refundable Agreement:
1. Final Sale:
All purchases made are final. Once the client agrees to the purchase by making a payment, timber products are non-refundable in most cases. This policy is in place to maintain the integrity of our product offerings and to ensure efficient operations.
2. Speciality order terms :
Orders that require timber to be sourced prior to completion of the job, BSD will liaise with the purchaser to confirm the quality of the wood before job completion. Please note as BSD works with a natural resource it is impossible until the tree is milled to know internal quality. In the instance a deposit, pre payment of down payment has been made BSD will discuss with the purchaser their options. If BSD decides the tree is not fit for use and no other option for the client is sufficient, a refund will be provided.
3. Moving timber to sites:
BSD often moves purchased timber to various sites requested by the client. It is the clients responsibility to ensure the location is fit for settlement of timber, unless other wise discussed.
If the job cost is not inclusive of sight preparation and/or transport, additional costs for these requirements will need to be organised & billed.
In the Instance where BSD attends a job where preparation and/or logistics have failed to be done prior to delivery, a fee will be charged.
4. Acknowledgment of Terms:
By proceeding with the purchase, clients confirm their understanding and acceptance of BSD terms.
Additional Information:
Clients are encouraged to discuss any specific requirements or concerns with our sales team prior to completing the purchase.
Please note for speciality jobs, given BSD works with natural products the final product may vary from expectation due to availability and natural variations in the wood product. BSD will liaise with the purchaser throughout the job to ensure satisfaction.
Payment terms:
Due to the amount of labour in sourcing, moving, milling and coordinating jobs, BSD takes a 50% down payment upfront on speciality orders, large quantity orders and on any other jobs or timber types that are in high demand.
Please understand due to significant coordination and inability to fill other waiting jobs, if BSD is booked for a job, including milling, trucking or any agreed upon service/s, cancelation or significant changes to this job, may incur a charge due to client non-fulfilment.
Additionally BSD works with uncommon timber types & dimensions, therefor ensuring the preservation of our timber is essential. Spoiled or cut timbers reserved for cancelled jobs become unprofitable.
Cancelations & order changes:
All cancelations or significant changes to milling orders or milling jobs within 72 hours of the job being started will forfeit payments.
Cancelations or significant changes prior to 72 hours potentially may result in the loss of payment depending on the job preparation, notice is required to our millers, machine operators and staff to cancel or change jobs. Furthermore, machinery has to be placed on hold, moved to appropriate sights and prepared for use, inhibiting the availability of BSD’s company resources.
Orders for slabbing policy:
If you are placing an order for a slabbing job, BSD reserves the right to secure 50% off the payment up front when collecting the log. The remaining 50% is paid once the slab/s have been collected or dropped off on completion of job. Please note when payment is made slabbing jobs that use the clients own timber are not refundable.
Thank you for understanding and respecting the perseveration of our timber
Wood Care:
Timber requires a certain level of care to reduce the natural ageing process, milling timber exposes new grain, therefor certain care is required depending on the personal preference.
For weathered timber do not oil or seal timber, depending on the grain type colour will lighten and timber fibres will naturally move.
To maintain the colour and reduce weathering and fibre movement, oiling or sealing is required. Please discuss with your builder or designer for best options for aesthetics..
BSD is not responsible for the ageing of timber and natural variations in grain over time. We work with natural elements there for maintenance of the wood is under the discretion of the purchaser.
